Why this matters now

AI answers are intercepting your clicks.

Potential clients now ask ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity and Grok who to hire. Those tools name a handful of firms and move on. AI recommendations imply trust, and AI-driven traffic converts at higher rates. If you’re not mentioned, your competitors win.

And the rules keep shifting. AI engines update roughly every two months, which means your website can’t be a “set it and forget it” project anymore.

SEO: still the foundation

You still need to rank on page 1 of Google (and Bing) to be found by the LLMs. Don’t ignore it.

AEO: Answer Engine Optimization

Writing and structuring your content so AI engines can pull a clear answer, and credit your firm for it.

GEO: Generative Engine Optimization

Building the off-site signals, directories and reviews that make AI trust, cite and recommend you.

23%of searchers now start at ChatGPT instead of Google, making it the #2 search engine
50%more likely to appear in AI results when content was published or updated in the last 13 weeks
23%of websites have an llms.txt file today, a first-to-market opportunity for your firm
~2 mobetween major AI engine updates, so your strategy has to adapt continually

What you’ll learn

Three modules. Real, actionable steps.

Not theory. You’ll leave with a checklist you can use on your own site the same day.

Module 01

It’s SEO and AEO

  • How Google and AI are changing where clients find lawyers
  • The top answer engines: ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity, Grok
  • Why you still need page-1 Google rankings to show up in LLMs
  • Real law firm websites doing this effectively
  • Where AI engines pull their answers from
Module 02

Make your website AEO-friendly

  • Q&A content, natural-question headings, writing how clients speak
  • Practice area pages and city pages that rank
  • Your bio page as an E-E-A-T authority page
  • Schema markup (FAQ, How-To, Q&A) and how to verify it
  • llms.txt files and robots.txt settings for AI crawlers
Module 03

Off-page signals AI trusts

  • The directories and sources ChatGPT actually checks
  • Consistent name, address and phone (NAP) everywhere
  • Google Maps: reviews, Q&A, posts and the top 3
  • Getting “Google Stars” on your search results
  • Scholarships for .edu authority links

Where does ChatGPT look?

AI checks far more than your website.

ChatGPT uses a “query fan-out” process: it searches for things like “best [practice area] lawyer in [city]” and aggregates what it finds across these sources. It favors firms with consistent NAP data, recent reviews and specific, detailed bios and FAQs.

Legal directories

State bar sites, Super Lawyers, Avvo, FindLaw, Justia, Martindale-Hubbell, Expertise.com, ThreeBestRated

Reviews & social

Yelp, Google Business Profile, Facebook and Reddit, plus Quora and YouTube comments

Entity validation

BBB, Foursquare, local business journals and news, and your own verdicts and settlements

Search indexes

Google and Bing. ChatGPT Search relies heavily on Bing’s index for real-time results

Keep your web company accountable

Is your web company keeping up with AI?

Most firms pay a web or SEO company every month and have no idea whether these changes have been made. We’ll show you how to check each one yourself, and what to ask for if it’s missing.

Do we have an llms.txt file, and is it done right? It’s the first thing LLMs look for, like a sitemap for ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude. Check yourfirm.com/llms.txt
Does robots.txt allow the AI crawlers?GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and Applebot-Extended. If blocked, AI can’t see your site. Check yourfirm.com/robots.txt
Is schema markup on every page?Attorney, FAQ, How-To and Q&A schema. Verify it with Google’s free Rich Results Test.
When was our main content last updated?Content updated in the last 13 weeks is 50% more likely to appear. Core pages need a refresh every 3 to 4 months.
Do we have a page for each practice area and city?Separate pages for each practice area and each surrounding city you serve, not just a list.
Does my bio page show E-E-A-T signals?Experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust. Your bio should position you as the authority.
Are we listed where ChatGPT looks?Foursquare, Yelp, Avvo, Justia, BBB and the rest, with identical name, address and phone.
Is our Google Maps listing in the top 3?Are reviews answered, and are Q&A, products and posts updated regularly?
Do we have “Google Stars” on our results?Review stars in search results cement referrals and signal trust.
How many high-value citations and links do we have? This is what you’re really paying an SEO company to do. Ask for the list, including any .edu links.

Try this before the webinar

A 10-minute AI visibility check.

Five things you can do today, no technical skills required. Bring your results and we’ll help you interpret them live.

1

Ask the AI

Ask ChatGPT, Claude and Gemini: “Who is the best [practice area] lawyer in [your city]?” Are you named?

2

Check llms.txt

Visit yourfirm.com/llms.txt. A “page not found” means you don’t have one.

3

Check robots.txt

Visit yourfirm.com/robots.txt and look for any “Disallow” lines aimed at GPTBot or ClaudeBot.

4

Test schema

Run your homepage and bio page through Google’s Rich Results Test and see what’s detected.

5

Search yourself

Look up your firm on Foursquare, Yelp and Avvo. Is the name, address and phone identical?
