1. Ask how many years experience the lawyer has with Lemon Law cases. Listen carefully to the answer on this question. Some attorneys will quote the number of years experience for the whole law firm, instead of their own number of years of experience, so be very specific. Five or more years of lemon law experience will be enough to be sure you have a fair chance at winning your case.
2. How many Lemon Law cases have they handled? You should get an immediate, straightforward answer. In addition, you should be told (without being asked) how many cases were successful. An 80% success rate is the minimum number with which to be satisfied.
3.How were the winning cases resolved? You want to hear about car owners receiving an automobile buy back from the manufacturer. Don’t settle for reimbursement for repairs, as the repairs are likely to be needed again. Choose the lawyer that sees buy back as the only good outcome.
4. The next thing to look out for is the personal introductory session. This is commonplace with the highly professional law firms. You should not even have to ask for one. After first contact with the firm if one is not offer to you, go elsewhere. Attend this session, and when you leave, you should know how long the case will take to complete, what your chances of winning are, how much your total cost would be should you hire that firm, and what your own responsibilities are related to the lemon law.
5. Is the lawyer available via phone after normal business hours? Reputable firms offer answering service 24/7 with a guarantee of 24-hour return on response. In order to carry out your own responsibilites with the case, you will need to get questions quickly aswered outside of normal business hours.
6. Ask who chooses which attorney is assigned to your case, you or the firm. You should have the right to choose who will handle your case. You know best which lawyer is a good fit for you. If the firm thinks it is their choice, start interviewing a different firm.
