Close to call so you run through the light as it changes an before you get seconds down the road more red lights are behind you, except these lights are in your rear view mirror. Its the police and they are pulling you over for running a red light. Not the way you wanted it to go.
The red in a traffic light is very visible to all drivers. A few of the are blurred by the sun and for a moment a driver can be blinded by the sun when entering a intersection. Seeing the intersection from a distance will give you an idea if the lights are changing when you can’t see it clearly up close.
The makers of signal lights that the environments into their design of the lights and the effects of the sun on them. Many have a black backdrop on them so the driver can see them better. This will help the look of the lights be brighter even during the day as well. Signal lights are put together with the lights in the same location.
The color scheme of the lights run in the same order for several reasons. One is to make sure people who drive and are color blind can see the changes in the same order and understand what light is on or off. The sequence is also to divide the lights from light to dark to get your attention when it changes.
There are places where a special light is needed that are not the same as those on intersections. These lights will need to be special ordered lights. The normal colors in a light are red, yellow and green. Other colors used to be available for purchase and they were used in local street has all but gone for the sake of conforming standard.
When approaching an intersection that is governed by the signal lights it is important to keep in mind that they will change and the time it takes to slow down or stop will be affected by the light change. Most people waiting at a light would say it takes too long and you are waiting all day. The truth is that the light is set on timers and the usual time between light rotation is usually 1 minute at the most 1.5 minutes in some cases.
The light change can catch you in the middle of the intersection when it starts to change. According to DPS handbook, if you are already in the intersection then continue forward as long as on obstructions are blocking the intersection. Otherwise if you are approaching a light, then you are suppose to be prepared to stop if the light starts to change.
Most of us have experienced seeing drivers speed up right as the lights are turning and run through the yellow light only to be running the red light by the time they enter the intersection. If a police officer sees them they will decide then if the driver ran the red or ran through the yellow. Mounted on more and more lights in intersections are the cameras that monitor the intersection for drivers running a red light. So be careful what you see the cameras are watching.
